Let Us Entertain You - With Mime and Music

Besides a great assortment of practical workshops and inspiring speakers, CSLA’s conference this July in Greenville, South Carolina, will offer participants two evenings of entertainment—one of mime, the other of music.

Saturday, July 19, mime Doug Berky will present his colorful one-man show “Gems,” based upon folk stories from around the world.

Each tale contains a “little gem of wisdom.” During his thirty years as an entertainer and storyteller, Doug has performed across the United States and abroad, appeared on national television, and created a video series. He is also a talented artist who creates masks for his own appearances and for use in theaters and schools.

Monday night’s entertainment will be provided by The Cap and the Collar, an interfaith duo combining the talents of Yossi Liebowitz and Paul Harmon.

Liebowitz is a rabbi and cantor who serves as the spiritual leader at Temple B’nai Israel in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Harmon is senior minister at Washington Street United Methodist Church in Columbia, South Carolina.

Liebowitz and Harmon, who have worked together for several years, sing traditional folk tunes, a little country music, and original songs interspersed with their distinctively droll humor.

Doug Berky’s mime performance is included with dinner on Saturday night, which is an automatic part of CSLA’s tour of area congregational libraries. Reserve your spot on the tour using the registration form on page 16 ($40). Or you can register for the dinner and entertainment only ($30). The performance by The Cap and the Collar is free for all who register for the full conference (including meals). [Click here to download Registration Form.]
