Welcome!

Atlanta SkylineWelcome to the Metro Atlanta Chapter! Come join us as we seek to develop church libraries throughout the state of Georgia and in our sister states of Tennessee and Alabama.

The Metro Atlanta chapter of the Church and Synagogue Library Association meets three times each year to support selection, processing, automation, and promotion of the local Church library. We would love to hear from you. We have churches of many faiths actively involved in the planning and programs of our meetings.

A Word From Our President

It is the beginning of an exciting new year for the Metropolitan Atlanta chapter of CSLA. The new officers have been busy planning informative workshops for the year as well as looking at ways to share the benefits of CSLA membership with church and synagogue libraries within not only the Metropolitan Atlanta area, but also throughout Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. Although there are three planned workshops and gatherings for the year, there is also a wonderful network of CSLA librarians who are only a phone call or email away. We would like very much to get to know more of our southern friends and share ideas and congregational library "best practices" with you.

As metropolitan as Atlanta is, so goes our chapter. We have new librarians, experienced librarians, those who come to gather information and some who share their wisdom. Large libraries are represented as well as those with a box of donated books. No matter how large our library or how far we travel to attend a meeting, we always make a new friend and take away an idea to make our libraries a better place for our patrons.

As our libraries grow and change, the Atlanta CSLA network supports one another by exchanging ideas, answering questions and exploring new technologies together. Automation and blogs can be like a foreign language. Cataloging new formats can be frustrating as well, but as a chapter we seem to always have someone who will share their knowledge on the current topic and clarify issues for the group.

There is a wealth of experience and expertise available for support. Being a congregational librarian in the Metro Atlanta CSLA chapter is not a solitary position.
